Yosemite
July 2007
Another short, 3 day trip. Silke and I drove up after work on a Thursday, in order to be at the ranger station at 7am Friday morning, to get a permit for Saturday night. That part was kind of annoying, but it did give us a chance to walk around the valley for a day. The amount of wildlife was incredible considering the density of the people in the valley at midsummer. We saw baby quail, a bear getting treed by coyotes, a rattlesnake cross our trail, and watersnakes. The second day we took the bus up to Glacier Point and hiked down to Little Yosemite Valley, just above Nevada Falls. On Day 3, we left our tent and dayhiked up to to the top of Half Dome, which has some pretty impressive views of the park. Luckily we got there before there were too many people on the cables.
